Dead Moon Rising has been a hit on the festival circuit, as it has won awards like the audience award for best feature at the 2007 Cine-Fest and Best Zombie Film at the 2007 Fright Night film Festival. The film has, get this, a cast of fourteen people, 600 choppers and 1,200 extras. Oh, did I forget that the film also has largest zombie scene ever filmed, according the cover of the DVD box.
This film is about a disease that’s taking over the world which turns peop
le into you guessed it, zombies. Jim and his fellow clerks realize that this is going outside their door. While that’s going on, Jim is also having other problems including disgruntled customers, a hot young looking woman, his certifiable ex-girlfriend and his brother, who loves guns. He realizes that he must put his problems together and defeat the hoards of zombies before they get him.
This was surprisingly a fun film, even though there were a couple of things that I had problems with. The positives first, One of the things that made this film fun, was the fact that it wasn’t taken serious. It’s one of those films that has hot babes and intestines flying all over the place. Beside all that, I liked the fact that writer/director Mark E. Poole included some good humor in it. He borrows elements of 28 Days Later, Shawn of the
Dead. And Clerks, as it helped make this film watchable and fun. Poole makes fun of religion, corporate America and the outsourcing of American jobs to name a few. They were funny and not too stupid. I liked how Poole uses the narration, as it gave some depth to some of the characters in the film because without that, it wouldn’t be effective. He also does a fairly good job directing his actors. The performances were also surprising good, as I have no complaints with the acting in the film. It was enjoyable. The chemistry between the actors were also good, as they seemed to be having fun time which helps a film like this.
The two problems with this film. First, the film came off like a backyard fan film at times, with the digital explosions and the sound effects. Usually, this is a major problem with me, but it’s one of those films where I was able to bypass that since it was a fun movie. Also, the ending felt a little amateurish, as there was just too much chaos going on and perhaps with more money it would have been better and gorier. But with that said, I do admire the director’s attempt to pull that off ,with the budget he had.
Dead Moon Rising is one of those guilty pleasures that will satisfy the your bloodlust for intestines and gore.

I have to say, it sounds pretty entertaining from here. Great review!!
I just watched this and it was....pretty awful. And not in a good way. I feel a little violated to tell the truth. Don't waste your time.
