According to STYD, Sony has set a release date for the next Resident Evil film. The movie, entitled Resident Evil: Afterlife, should be in theaters on September 17, 2010. A director has yet to be attached to the film, but Paul W.S. Anderson, writer/director of the original Resident Evil, is returning as the writer on this film. Official casting announcements haven't been made yet either, but it's pretty certain that Milla Jovovich will return to play Alice at least one more time. Rumors also finger Tokyo as the setting for the new film, which makes logical sense after the way RE: Extinction ended.
