I forgot where I found this at, but I found the new (and I think final) poster for "Disaster Movie." It still looks unfunny, but now we can guarantee you that there will be a lot of unfunny spoofs. So... who's going to see it, for curiosity or because you actually want to see it?

Source: Fangoria

Fangoria.com reported earlier about the new release date for the new Darren Lynn Bousman film “Repo: The Genetic Opera.” The film will go to limited release on November 7, 2008. I don’t know why go limited. I think Lionsgate doesn’t really want to release any films that aren’t an entry in the “Saw” films wide release. And why dump it out on the same day that “Quantum of Solace” and “Madagascar 2” comes out? Still, I’m looking forward to see this one badly.

Hancock

There are heroes... there are superheroes... and then there's Hancock (Will Smith). With great power comes great responsibility – everyone knows that – everyone, that is, but Hancock. Edgy, conflicted, sarcastic, and misunderstood, Hancock's well-intentioned heroics might get the job done and save countless lives, but always seem to leave jaw-dropping damage in their wake. The public has finally had enough – as grateful as they are to have their local hero, the good citizens of Los Angeles are wondering what they ever did to deserve this guy. Hancock isn't the kind of man who cares what other people think – until the day that he saves the life of PR executive Ray Embrey (Jason Bateman), and the sardonic superhero begins to realize that he may have a vulnerable side after all. Facing that will be Hancock's greatest challenge yet – and a task that may prove impossible as Ray's wife, Mary (Charlize Theron), insists that he's a lost cause.

Kit Kittredge: An American Girl

Aspiring reporter Kit Kittredge can’t resist bringing home strays, whether it’s Grace, an abandoned basset hound, or Will (Max Thieriot of JUMPER) and Countee (Willow Smith), a pair of young hobos willing to trade work for meals. Bright, inquisitive and generous, Kit is a natural born leader. But her happy childhood is abruptly interrupted when her father (Chris O’Donnell) loses his car dealership and must leave Cincinnati to look for work. Kit and her mother Margaret (Julia Ormond) are left to manage on their own, growing vegetables, selling eggs and even taking in an assortment of boarders including an itinerant magician (Stanley Tucci), a vivacious dance instructor on the prowl for a husband (Jane Krakowski) and a zany mobile librarian (Joan Cusack). When a crime spree sweeps Cincinnati, all signs point to the local “hobo jungle,” where Will and Countee live with a group of their impoverished companions. Kit, who always has her antennae out for a good news story, convinces her new friends to take her to see the hobo camp for herself and writes an article that creates a sympathetic portrait of the camp’s residents. But when Kit’s mother and their boarders become the latest victims in a string of robberies, Kit’s loyalties are tested. Will is accused of the crimes and, with all of their savings gone, the Kittredges face losing their house to foreclosure. Determined to recover the stolen money and believing Will is innocent, Kit recruits her friends Ruthie (Madison Davenport) and Stirling (Zach Mills) to help her track down the real culprit. Together they uncover a plot that goes far beyond Cincinnati!

The Wackness

It's the summer of 1994, and the streets of New York are pulsing with hip-hop and wafting with the sweet aroma of marijuana--but change is in the air. The newly-inaugurated mayor, Rudy Giuliani, is beginning to implement his anti-fun initiatives against "crimes" like noisy portable radios, graffiti and public drunkenness. Set against this backdrop, Luke Shapiro (Josh Peck) spends his last summer before college selling dope throughout New York City, trading it with his shrink (Ben Kingsley) for therapy, while crushing on his step-daughter (Olivia Thirlby). Famke Janssen, Mary Kate Olsen, and Method Man round out the cast in this edgy, bittersweet, and funny coming of age story.

Fritz Lang’s classic film “Metropolis” is considered one of the most expensive films of all-time. Especially for when it was made, back in 1927. If adjusted for inflation, the cost of the film would equal around $200 million. Since it was so long ago, the only thing that really is survived of the film is an incomplete original negative and shortened copies of re-released prints. Since a few days ago, over one quarter of the film has been missing. Cinexcellence informed me yesterday that they found the missing footage in a 210-minute cut in Argentina. This cut was only shown once at a German premiere. I haven’t seen the Kino released version yet (have it, but have not watched it), but I really want to check this one out. Hope it gets released in some theaters.

There seems to be another “Sherlock Holmes” film coming in the near future. Sacha Baron Cohen and Will Ferrell will be playing Sherlock Holmes and Watson in a film written by Etan Cohen (who wrote “Tropic Thunder”) and Judd Apatow and Jimmy Miller will be producing. This will be hilarious. Remember the last time the two teamed up in a film? The finished product was “Talladega Nights.”

Producer Mark Millar was talking to the Scottish website Daily Record and broke the news on a “Superman” revamp… kind of. I was a big fan of “Superman Returns,” and still watch it whenever it is on HBO or Cinemax. Millar said that he has a director and a producer in mind for the new “Superman” film, and he is shooting for a 2011 release date. There is no idea that this will be a sequel or another reimaging (if you didn’t know, “Superman Returns” was a reimagining), or whether or not Brandon Routh will be reappearing as the caped crusader. One could only hope that this may put the films back on track.

I am one of the very few who actually liked the third “Resident Evil” film. I didn’t go into with many expectations, but I came out pretty surprised. The fact that there may be a sequel excites me greatly. Director Paul W.S. Anderson talked to MTV Movies Blog about how the fourth film is “in the earliest stages of development.” He also said, “I’m just starting to talk to Sony about it. I don’t even know if anything will come of it, but there’s a possibility it might happen.”

We made mention that the teaser trailer for “The Day the Earth Stood Still” will be appearing before “Hancock.” It hasn’t been “officially” released on the internet, but it is appearing now off of YouTube and FilmWeb. Let me be the first to say that we might actually like the movie, but it will take a lot more than a teaser trailer to make us figure that out. “The Day the Earth Stood Still” comes out December 12, 2008. (If the trailer goes dead sometime through the day, can one contact me back?)

NY Post reported earlier that Robert Rodriguez and Rose McGowan broke up. Yes, I know how we are a film site and I’ll never report on a celebrity unless if it has to do with their life condition (Patrick Swayze, Heath Ledger) or if they are starring in a role that is worth mentioning, but I’m reporting on this because this rules out almost all possibilities of Rose McGowan starring in the remakes for “Red Sonja,” “Barbarella,” and that damn “Woman in Chains.” Reportedly they broke up because Rodriguez couldn’t get the right budget that he wanted with McGowan playing the main character in the “Barbarella” remake. Studios didn’t think that she was a big enough star, and after that “Grindhouse” flop, no one wants he name associated with a flick for a while… at least until that thing blows over.

UPDATE!!!: It appears that People contacted McGowan's PR. They said that McGowan and Rodriguez are still together and the projects will still go on.

Here is the new red band trailer for “Mirrors.” It still looks kinda crappy, but who knows. With Aja as the director, it may be pretty damn good. Maybe they’re saving the scary moments for the actual film.

Source: Daily Mail

There were a few rumors, but I never actually thought I was going to read THIS! Someone actually greenlighted a film version of the hit TV show “Friends.” Someone saw how much “Sex in the City” made and they were like, “You know, maybe we can go a little bit R-rated and show some stuff that we couldn’t do on NBC.” All of the cast members are said to team up within eighteen months and work on a film for the TV show. Since almost all of these guys are almost forty (Kudrow is 45? Holy shit…), how much longer can these characters live like this for?

Trailer Addict has the look at the new face posters for the new Judd Apatow movie “Pineapple Express.” Like the poster from “Knocked Up” back last year, they are mainly just close-ups of James Franco’s and Seth Rogan’s characters. “Pineapple Express” comes out August 8.

Thanks to /Film, we’ve found ourselves another “Dark Knight” poster. Yes, it is the one-hundredth and fifty-seventh one, but this one is too good to be true. “The Dark Knight” comes out on the eighteenth, if you needed reminding. And I will have to buy a ticket tomorrow if I don’t want to miss a showing that could be sold out.

On Page Six at the NY Post, it was announced that Quentin Tarantino was eyeing porn star Tera Patrick to star as the lead role in his remake of “Faster, Pussycat, Kill! Kill!” Supposedly, Tarantino loves her, and I don’t blame him. She’s HOT!

And if you don't believe me, this is as PG as it can get. Look at a picture of her that they have on Google.

Source: Extra

This should have happened ages ago, but better late than never, eh? Eddie Murphy was talking to Extra the other day and he broke the news about something that is so awesome it isn’t funny (actually, it is). Murphy decides that it is about time that he should retire acting and go back to his stand-up. He should have done this before “Meet Dave” (and before “Norbit” and “Pluto Nash”), but yes, Eddie “Norbit” Murphy is finally about to retire! He says that “Beverly Hills Cop 4” isn’t just ready yet and that he only wanted to do it. He also explains about number three in the series. "They said this is how much we're going to pay you. I said, 'let's go shoot it! I don't care if the script ain't right." That explains “Norbit” and “Pluto Nash.” Hell, he was paid almost five times more money for “Nash” than what the film actually made in the box office.

Oh, and if you were wondering, if the project ("BHC4") is still going to be made, it WILL be rated R. Just for clarification.

Would you like to be given a chance to join with the FilmArcade.net team? We are looking for two or three news columnists that are willing to share the news that people want to hear. You must be able to produce a good amount of content during the week. If you know someone that works "inside" (as in a producer, casting director, or director themselves), that would be just as awesome. We will be covering news stories that go from movies yet to be released to movies that are to be released on DVD.

If you think you are up for the gig., e-mail the Head Admin TonyD@FilmArcade.net. You can also send an email to that address for any questions.

You might have read my review here on FilmArcade, where I applaud "Wall-E" and called it one of my favorite movies ever, but it isn't just me it seems. I went on IMDb just shortly ago, and when I clicked the page, not only does it have a 9.3 rating from IMDb users, but it is on the top 250... at number nine. Not only is it just below "The Empire Strikes Back," but it beats "Star Wars," "The Lord of the Rings: Return of the King," "Goodfellas," "Seven Samurai," and, well, just look at this... It beats "Casablanca," the film that once held the record of the best romantic film ever... until "Wall-E" took it from them.

I'm sure it'll change later and be number one, but for now, let's highlight this picture below. Thanks shitty cell-phone!

UPDATE: It seems like I just might be right about it changing very soon. It's getting higher and higher whenever someone votes. Now it's at number six on IMDb's 250 - just below "The Godfather," "Shawshank Redemption," "The Godfather Part II," "The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly," and "Pulp Fiction." Rotten Tomatoes also named it the best reviewed film of 2008 so far. If that doesn't make you want to watch it (and if you already saw it, watch it again), then you must be watching Mike Myers and his phoney balogna accent. Randy might as well change his opinion soon.

Cinematical ALSO has the exclusive premiere of “Tyler Perry’s The Family That Preys.” I’m sure I don’t need to go into any opinions of Tyler Perry, but yeah, I’m sure that it won’t matter. It’ll make a lot of money opening weekend and people will forget about it after that. “The Family That Preys” will be released on September 12, 2008.

Cinematical has the exclusive premiere of the one sheet for the Cannes hit “Blindness.” It’s not nearly as beautiful as the teaser, or not even the Japanese, but it doesn’t spoil much. “Blindness” will be released on September 19, 2008.

This film basically went dead after theaters stopped playing trailers and the release date kept being pushed back – but now Colin Farrell and Edward Norton’s new film “Pride and Glory” will finally see the light of day sooner than later. Originally to be released March 14, 2008, it was pushed back until sometime in 2009. Usually that means that it sucks if it is pushed back that far, but now it is moved up to October 24, 2008. This is great news because it may even be recognized for Oscar Season. Even though I didn’t really like “In Bruges,” I loved Farrell’s character. He won’t be able to receive a nomination for his job in that film, but could he perhaps get one here?
